Final Exam: The Modern Day Art

• What is the subject of your image? What is the content of your image?
-  The Subject of my Image is Street Art 3D and this is a concept I had seen on Facebook and it was quite Intriguing. These images include various different types of environment. For example, the last image all the way at the bottom is called "Dies Irae" and it is a representation of Ancient Roman History.

• Why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
-  The reasons I choose this composition, are because 1, it was art I have never seen before, 2, it looks quite surreal, 3, it was a project to look forward to, and finally because I feel that it is a creative way to implant art in one of its best forms.

• Explain the process and steps you went through and why you made those decisions.
- The computer software I used were Photoshop, and the regular photo editor (Preview) on Mac OS Sierra and it was quite complex to use on Photoshop in comparison to the regular photo editor (Preview). The reason I believe using these softwares is the best idea is because theres no way I had access to these picture locations otherwise I would have actually taken the picture there.

• How you would categorize your work (ex. collage, graphic print, mixed media, etc).
- This work of mine would fall under Graphic Media Arts because it is basically an image created through digital means.

• What artists or works are appropriate to compare your work to?
- The first Image on the Top, "A Cave In London" is by artist "Edgar Mueller" and it is stated that "Edgar Müller was born in Mülheim/Ruhr on 10 July 1968, and grew up in the rural city of Straelen on the western edge of Germany. His fascination with painting began in his childhood, with paintings of rural scenes of Straelen. Around the age of 25, Müller decided to devote himself completely to street painting. He traveled all over Europe, making a living with his transitory art" (Tom, 2011).

-Second Image, "Waterfall" is also by artist "Edgar Mueller".

-Third Image, "Ice Age" is also by artist "Edgar Mueller"

- Fourth Image, "Dies Irae" by artist "Kurt Wenner" and it is stated that "Kurt Wenner was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and boasts to be the inventor of three-dimensional pastel drawings. He produced his first commissioned mural at the age of sixteen, and by seventeen was earning his living as a graphic artist. He attended both Rhode Island School of Design and Art Center College of Design. According to his website, 3D Pavement Artists, 3D Sidewalk Artists, and 3D Chalk artists can all trace the roots of their work back to the street art of Rome in 1982, where Kurt Wenner transformed the complex geometry of Classical Italian Architecture into a new form of Popular Art. Whether they are called Street Paintings, Chalk Paintings, Sidewalk Paintings or pavement art, if they have a three-dimensional illusion they can be traced back to Kurt Wenner pastel drawings" (Tom, 2011).

• What quote from Society of the Spectacle best illustrates the themes in your self portrait? Please explain this.
- The quote I choose from Society of the Spectacle article that best illustrates my theme in my self portrait is number 9, "In a world that has really been turned upside down, the true is a moment of the false".
• What do you think this image conveys to the audience?
- The reaction I would hope to get is that the audience believes that what is being shown is an image that can be manipulated and represented in a subjective manner and that just because an image is shown does not mean it is true and it lives up to what it is representing.

• What are the differences between the midterm self-portrait and your final self-portrait?
- In the midterm self portrait I used an image to represent me in various forms like wave colliding with a snow mountain and this image reveals something entirely different because I am in the images but my representation is unique and tells a message.

• What influenced these changes (events, readings, information, artists)?
- Well, I wanted to see how creative I can get and looking at street art in 3D is truly an amazing sight to see and I wanted to implement this in my own project.
