The Hiding me

The subject of my final project image is that there are always two sides of somebody’s life. The one you portray to everybody and the one you only know about “the hiding you”.  It’s a picture of me smiling , but on the life side is the person I don’t want anybody to know. The right side is the person everybody see me as. I decided to use this as my final project because of the quote I choose from the article, “what appears is good; what is good appears”. To me that quote meant that even though it appears it might not always be good or what you think it is. It’s just like you might know a person’s name but you don’t know their story, or don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I would say my project is a self image and collage. An artist I would compare my image to is Cindy Sherman because it’s like i’m pretending to be somebody else or I can say dressing up as somebody i’m not. For my midterm I did a collage too but this time I did my whole collage on snap chat. I made a lot of different snaps and use the snap chat cutting tool to cut out the words , the eye, and the hand.  The eye I used was an eye with tears falling. The hand is there for two reasons. One of the reasons is to cover up half of the smile and the second reason is to look as if I’m wiping my tears. The words are there to describe the type of person you see. At first I was going to do it on a poster but I changed my mind because I did that for my midterm. I decided to use snap chat it was different. At first I couldn’t think of how I could do it but then I remember about all the tools snap chat had and I use them for my final image. My image conveys to the audience that you might think you know somebody but most of the time you don’t.
