The art gallery I attended was in the art building on campus.  It featured work from an artist named Aileen BassisFrom looking around at the art work, I got that the theme was immigrants in America.  In one of her art pieces there is a piece f paper that says "I asked immigrants what do you miss most about your homeland" the art work seemed to be a very clear representation of the question asked. It looks like a booklet and its titled "Muslim in America" and one of the pages that caught my attention the most was a page that had a picture of a baby, and it said "I teach them Arabic but they forget" and that really caught my attention. I happen to have some friends that aren't allowed to speak english at home, because their parents don't want them to lose touch of their homeland.
Another piece she had on display was called "Is this my America?" It was a booklet that looks like there may be photos of immigrants in the background. The pages have questions on them that read "where is your America?" and "is this my America?" That caught my attention the most because in the society we live in today, we have a president that is trying to deport immigrants in America, which I do not agree with, because immigrants are what made America.
The last piece of art that caught my attention was a piece by David Sandlln called "Pur-Ton-o-Fun". I liked that it was bright and something that could catch my attention. One of the pages says "Fool your Neighbors" and I thought that could be a representation of how everyone lives their everyday life. At the end of the day, everything is not what it seems.
When it comes to these pieces and it relating to self, Aileen's work really comes to mind. It wasn’t stated, but maybe the work she has made about immigrants pertains to her own life, and how she has lived her life.  Maybe along with asking other people the questions, she has had to ask herself these questions as well.
